What makes the Best Bug Out Bag Backpack?

When it comes to picking the right bug out bag you need to ask yourself a few questions.

  1. How much am I willing to spend?
  2. How much storage will I need?
  3. Will I use it for purposes other than bugging out?

These are all questions you need to consider before researching a pack. You should first set a budget on how much you're willing to spend on the pack. Then decide how much storage you'll need to build your bug out bag. Not having enough can leave you with out crucial items while too much could leave you bogged down and risking injury, try and find a happy medium for yourself. Finally you need to determine if you'll use your pack for purposes other than bugging out for example maybe you'll use it for hiking or hunting on the weekends. This kind of wear and tear will require your bag to have a higher level of durability.

When I look into buying a bug out bag one of the first things I look at is the material in which it is made of and how thick the material is (measured in Denier). You'll want a material that is both lightweight yet durable and that's why you'll see a lot of great packs made from 1000 D Ballistic Nylon. Then I'll look at the storage capacity of the pack. Typically you'll want around 50 Liters or 3,000 cubic inches of volume. It depends on how much gear you plan to carry though really so this is somewhat circumstantial. Next I'll look at features of the pack and determine whether they would be useful to me or not. Finally I'll determine whether or not the particular pack fits into the budget that I've set for myself.

Now when it comes to what makes the best bug out bag backpack this is mostly determined by your own needs and uses you have planned for the pack. My opinion however is that the perfect bug out bag is a pack made of high quality materials such as 1000 or 1050 D Nylon. I personally prefer to have a pack that offers at least 3,000 cubic inches of volume, because I like to carry more gear than I probably should (#PackRatProblems). I also prefer to see YKK zippers on my packs because they really are great quality zippers and rarely fail. I don't normally carry a hydration bladder but I like having the option to so I tend to look for packs that have a compartment for that too. I also like to have either multicam or some variation of a tan, Direct Action makes good camos too, but these are by no means deal breakers if I can't find a specific color of pack it's just a personal preference. So that's pretty much what I'd consider makes the best bug out bag backpack. Let's jump into the individual reviews now.
